Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
1. Comprehend the daily use Cantonese expressions;
2. Construct short sentences in Cantonese;
3. Demonstrate the ability of understanding Cantonese in daily situations;
4. Express oneself and carry on simple conversations in Cantonese.

2. Useful daily expressions:
2.1 greetings
2.2 shopping
2.3 phone conversation
2.4 presentations in class
2.5 make simple inquiries
3. Basic Cantonese sentence structure
3.1 simple Chinese characters
3.2 word order
3.3 phrases
4. Basic Cantonese sentence patterns in different forms:
4.1 affirmative
4.2 negative
4.3 interrogative
1 semester, 20 hours
