Alisdair Jeremy Chun Kit Chan

"Studying Business (Hons) Marketing Management in Edinburgh Napier University was one of my wisest choices in my study path. I still remember how I felt when I first applied this programme; the capability to study in this program was my major concern as a student who did not had much experience in studying marketing before. The guidance and patience from Napier University and SCOPE, City University of Hong Kong lecturers and tutors has been offered the greatest support to my studies.

f I had a chance to choose the options between studying 2 modules or doing a Live Project, I would choose the latter again. The experience of doing the Project let me know the difference between academic theories and real life marketing situation and thus has changed my mind about insurance industry.
 

What is a Live Project? It is a module that provides a chance for students to work for any marketing activities in the real market. Students are playing the role of marketing consultant who is responsible for generating a marketing plan, strategy, and so on.

The BA (Hons) Marketing Management Programme had been an unforgettable experience in my study life. The well-organized programme structure helps me build strong self-discipline in learning and accomplishing assigned duties. Independence and Teamwork are both emphasized in the learning process which is challenging and exciting! The Live Project had offered a valuable chance for me to work, in coordination with my teammates for the Host Organization so that I could understand more about business world in reality through such unique experience.

Embracing the academic strategy of emphasizing on employability skills, encouragement of creative use of technology and focusing on practice, this programme dedicates to enhance students' ability to apply theoretical frameworks to diverse business situations and to exhibit creative minds and critical thinking throughout learning. For instance, the 'Live Project' Module has provided an excellent experience for us to work side by side with businesses and organizations in Hong Kong on practical projects which help develop our problem solving skills in marketing related fields.

"I have studied on this programme for the last year and have found it very enlightening. In particular, the Live Project module provided a rare opportunity for me to work with an HK organisation (non- profit, in our case) and put what I learned into practice. Through this project, I realised the differences between theories and the actual practice, and I got a good taste of what it’s like to be a marketer. From designing tailored strategies to finishing the actual project, it required constant communication and cooperation that I have benefited a lot from.

關樂婷

畢業於廣告及創意媒體副學士課程的關樂婷,對市場營銷很感興趣,得知此銜接學位課程免費提供市場學基礎單元,讓非本科同學亦可修讀市場學課程後,她便決定報讀此課程。「基礎單元讓我打好學科的基礎,對非本科出身的同學來說,猶 如一支強心針。」


在修讀過程中,她印象最深刻的是導師的啟迪。此課程由CityU SCOPE的老師和Edinburg Napier University的教授指導,他們除了教授書本上的理論,還經常分享他們的工作經驗。不少老師曾在各個知名品牌的市場部門工作,他們 寶貴的經驗分享,使同學對市場營銷管理這個行業有更透徹的了解,有助同學日後工作上的發展。


此課程的學術要求很高,學期末的畢業論文需編制問卷、 訪問、 分析數據等。「以往我對寫論文十分抗拒,幸好遇上對教學充滿熱誠的論文導師。在她循循善誘下,我最後取得滿意的成績,我非常感謝她悉心的教導。」

余倩彤

余倩彤對市場營銷有濃厚興趣,高級文憑畢業後,就選讀此政府認可及就讀年期較短的銜接學位課程。此課程設有 論文寫作一科,「我可以透過論文寫作,訓練自己的分析及研究能力,這對日後從事市場營銷行業很有幫助。」


她的讀書方法就是做好時間管理,因為預備功課不單要進行資料搜集、分析,還要與時間競賽。「遇到問題時,不 妨請教導師,他們很樂意解答,並會提供建議方法。」時間過得很快,轉眼就畢業,她希望同學享受讀書,雖然過 程中是艱苦的,但會苦盡甘來。

黃詠怡

黃詠怡修畢高級文憑課程後,即報讀「市場營銷管理(榮譽)文學士」課程,她認為課程口碑佳,較一般同類型課程修讀時間短,加上課程已獲評為資歷架構第五級,相當於本地大學學位資歷,學歷認受性高。課程多元化也是她選擇此課程的一個原因,她從「品牌管理」、「市場分析」這兩個單元中,不但學到如何建立品牌形象,而且掌握到運用系統作數據分析,這些對日後職場工作有莫大幫助。


在「實習單元」(Live Project) 一科, 「我們與一間教育機構合作,了解該機構的業務性質後,便擬定一連串市場推廣策略,幫助公司推廣業務。」她表示自己和組員分工合作,學懂包容體諒,接納不同意見,從而發揮團隊精神。加上定期 要向公司高層匯報計劃及進展,因此溝通技巧得以提升。


黃詠怡認為本課程理論與實踐並重,導師悉心教導,她從學習中獲益不少。「本以為撰寫畢業論文時會很吃力,但在導師獨立指導下, 在撰寫論文的過程中,我慢慢明白當中的要訣,掌握到搜集資料與分析數據的技巧,亦學懂從多角度思考問題,以及寫論文的方法。」 談及讀書心得,黃詠怡習慣下課後複習筆記,每當遇到不明白的生字時,她都會查字典,或課後請教導師,務求爭取最佳的成績。黃詠怡寄語師弟妹們要積極認識自己的長處和弱項,學習時若遇到不明白的地方,要主動發問,困難自然會迎刃而解。
