Programme Aims
Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Quantity Surveying course is aimed at individuals who wish to pursue a career in quatity surveying, whose work would normally be within a contracting organisation. Quantity Surveyors are knowledgeable and enterprising and have responsibilities for the financial management of high value construction operations.
The course is also suitable for local authority and central government quantity surveyors and client organisation surveyors.
As a practitioner in the global community the contractor’s quantity surveyor is responsible for preparing the initial budget costs of buildings and infrastructure at design stage, cost advice to the professional or client’s quantity surveyor and cost control throughout the project. Additional responsibilities include reconciliation of the final account upon completion of the project and ensuring that all stakeholders achieve value for money.
The ability to integrate technological, financial, social, economic and legal solutions through the development of digital literacy will be extended through the programme in a structured learning environment.
Classes and Venue
The teaching is delivered by experienced academic staff from University of Wolverhampton and local practitioners. Each module normally comprises intensive lectures delivered by teaching staff of University of Wolverhampton. After the intensive lectures, there will be tutorials delivered by local tutors for each module.
At the end of each semester, there will be another intensive sessions held by staff from University of Wolverhampton to provide additional support to students before the examination week or submission of the final reports.

Student Support
Online learning materials will be provided to students for each module to support students' learning. Students will also be provided access to the CityU's Run Run Shaw Library (including electronic resources) and computer services centre located on campus.

In addition, students will also be provided access to the Wolverhampton On-line Learning Framework system, a purpose-built computer-based learning environment developed by University of Wolverhampton to enable students to access course notes, related resources and support materials, and to communicate with tutors and other students on-line. Students will also have access to online resources such as journals and e-book through the University of Wolverhampton Learning Centre Website.
Assessment and Final Award
All taught modules are assessed by coursework and/or written examination. Students will be awarded a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Quantity Surveying conferred by University of Wolverhampton upon successful completion of all the taught modules and dissertation of the programme.
Medium of Instruction
English
The English Learning Resources Corner (ELRC) is provided to students to find useful reference materials and to sharpen their English language proficiency. Students can read diverse types of English materials here, including academic reference books, magazines and fictions.
The Self-access English Learning Area (SELA) is offered to students to access the e-learning resources, such as online dictionaries, corpora, and language games, to learn English in their own time and at their own pace.
