Prevention of occupational injury is a must in every organization. However, once injury happens to an employee, it is very crucial to help him/her to have speedier recovery and return to workplace. Speedier recovery and return-to-work of injured employees can also minimize the effect on productivity of the organization and reduce the burden on medical system of the society.
Effective Occupational Rehabilitation Management (ORM), or known as “Disability Management” (DM), is very crucial to address and fulfill the needs of the injured employee and coordinate all stakeholders in the whole Return-To-Work (RTW) process which facilitates the return of injured employee to the workplace.
As already suggested in the Chief Executive's 2019 Policy Address, a case management approach will be advocated to facilitate early recovery and return to work of workers injured at work. Therefore, it is foreseeable that there will be a keen demand for occupational rehabilitation specialists in the near fture.
The School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE) of CityU and Occupational Safety & Health Council (OSHC) have collaborated to offer courses in occupational safety and health since 1993. As a pioneer in OSH, CityU SCOPE and OSHC jointly offerED the programme “Professional Diploma in Occupational Rehabilitation Management” (PDORM).
