Programme Aim
This programme aims at enhancing participants’ knowledge and skills required to be Case Managers helping individuals who have incurred injuries or illnesses to return to work, as well as providing them with an introduction to the competencies required to implement and administer the occupational rehabilitation programmes in an organization. This programme also prepares participants to sit in the Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) certification examination.
Programme Structure
The programme is based on the curriculum of “Disability Management Practitioner Programme” developed by the National Institute of Disability Management and Research (NIDMAR) of Canada, with adaptation to local context and offered under license from NIDMAR.
It comprises five modules and is designed for part-time study with a total of 198 hours spanning over 10 months.
- Introduction to Occupational Rehabilitation Management (30 hours)
- Body System and Assessment Techniques (36 hours)
- Workplace Modification and Preparation (54 hours)
- Case Management Techniques (36 hours)
- Implementation of Occupational Rehabilitation Programme (42 hours)
CEF reimbursable modules
Assessment and Award
The assessment for modules includes coursework and/or examination. Students who have achieved a minimum of 70% attendance and passed all parts will be awarded a Professional Diploma in Occupational Rehabilitation Management (PDORM) by CityU SCOPE.
Professional Recognitions
Certified Disability Management Professionals (CDMP)
CDMP is a worldwide recognized designation for ORM / DM practitioners. The designation is awarded under the auspices of the International Disability Management Standards Council (IDMSC) through the CDMP certification examination.
PDORM Graduates# will meet the educational criteria for CDMP certification examination. The examination will be held annually in May in Hong Kong.
# In order to meet the experience criteria for CDMP exam, graduates must possess a minimum of 2 years of work experience during the last 5 years with at least 50% or more of time in the delivery of DM services.
Accredited Occupational Rehabilitation Specialist (AORS)
Graduates are considered to have fulfilled the training criteria for the AORS for the “Construction and Designated Industries Injured Employees Return-to-work Pilot Scheme” to be administrated by the OSHC.
